No news yesterday. News came today that three French ships beat some Austrian ships in the Mediterranean. More fighting between outposts of the French and German armies.
They seem to be coming together in Belgium, Luxemburg and Alsace. There may be another Waterloo or big battle near there soon. They say the Germans are concentrating in Luxemburg. Lord Kitchener’s New Army is being formed rapidly and the Prince’s fund is over £1,000,000. Sea traffic is being resumed so that it seems as though we had got the German fleet bottled up somewhere. At Church yesterday we had a special Gospel and Epistle and Prayers and the collection was for the Prince of Wales’ Fund.
