Germans are in Brussels. Possibly it is because the Belgians have retreated to Antwerp and are acting in the best possible way in conjunction with the English and French and we ARE GOING TO BEAT THE Germans in another place. I hope so.
Today was the day appointed for special intercessions; we went to the 8 p.m. Service. Instead of the ordinary service we had special prayers, psalms and lessons. Psalms 46 and 90, 1st lesson is I Kings VIII 54-62, 2nd lesson Luke XI 1 – 14, also hymns 142, 370, 184. I am putting this down because I may want to know sometime what we had and there is no other way of keeping a record. The eclipse was nothing extra here; it was cloudy most of the time and we couldn’t see much, and less of the sun was obscured than in 1912.
