The Diary of Dorothy Priest, December 2nd 1914

I went to Nechells today to assist in the administration of the Prince of Wales’ fund. It is very interesting work.

Tickets are filled in to be taken to the tradesmen who give goods in exchange for them so that no money is given away, which is a good thing as they cannot spend it wastefully or on wrong things.  According to one paper there are four Kings at the front and according to another three Emperors.  They would be the King, the Tsar, King Albert and the Kaiser.  Of course, there are other Royalties as well.  I have at last finished my helmet after being at it a fortnight and two days.
