SOLDIERS’ CHILDREN
N.C.O.S’ ASSOCIATION PROVIDE A JOYOUS ENTERTAINMENT
The wives and children of the sergeants of the first, second, and third lines of the 5th and 6th Battalions of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment – a party of about 350 – were entertained in the Hope-street Council Schools, Birmingham, on Saturday.
Their hosts were the N.C.Os’ Association of the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. The proceedings opened with a tea, and afterwards much merriment was provoked by a “Punch and Judy” show. The Misses Bessie Johnstone and Lily Knight also assisted in the entertainment of the guests with songs.
Finally there was a parade to meet a benevolent Father Christmas, who bestowed gifts of toys, fruit and sweets on all. Colonel Hart, C.B. was present during part of the proceedings.
