WOMEN ON THE LAND
WHAT THEY ARE REQUIRED TO DO
Birmingham women are to be given an opportunity of working the land.
The local branch of the Land Council is making the necessary arrangements, and there is every reason to believe that the response to the appeal will be sufficient and that the scheme for helping farmers in Birmingham area will prove successful.
The women land workers will be required to accept work in dairies and poultry departments, which, our informant thought, would not prove difficult, but so far as the heavier class of work is concerned, such as field planting, hoeing, weeding, and harvesting, he was afraid the strain would be too great for townswoman.
