A Countryside at War: Rural England 1914-1919
Wednesday 27 April, 6pm, the Hive Studio, University of Worcester
Alun Howkins is Professor Emeritus of Social History at University of Sussex and Honorary Professor University of East Anglia, an expert of rural areas and the rural poor. He has written on a wide range of topics from Turner to the politics of the Communist party, his books include The Death of Rural England: A Social History of the Countryside since 1900 (Routledge 2003).
