“BUSINESS AS USUAL.”
BIRMINGHAM AND THE WHITSUN HOLIDAYS
“Business as usual” is apparently the motto which Birmingham people will adopt in regard to Whit-Monday. So far as can be ascertained the only persons who will be at play are the scholars of the elementary schools. Practically the whole of the works, shops and professional offices will be open, and the Lord Mayor has arranged to make an official tour of the Corporation gas works and electric power stations during the day.
THE ROYAL PROCLAMATION
At yesterday’s Privy Council the King signed the proclamation postponing the Whitsuntide Bank holiday until August.
