Project update: WW1 in the Vale
On 27, Jul 2016 | In Project Updates | By Nicola Gauld
Members of Pershore WI were recently treated to a demonstration of WW1 cookery techniques by Judy Garner and Professional Masterchef winner, Mark Stinchcombe, and his wife Sue, at Eckington Manor on 20 March 2016. The demonstration was filmed and can be viewed here: https://ww1inthevale.wordpress.com/about/
University of Worcester undergraduates studying Art & Children’s Illustration were commissioned to produce a World War One recipe and activity book for children to use when learning about their local Home Front History. A bright and fun-filled resource, the full recipe book is available as a pdf and can be downloaded from the Voices of War & Peace website.
Watch out for our forthcoming book! Volunteers from Pershore WI, Pershore History & Heritage Society and Pershore U3A are working together with Professor Maggie Andrews from the University of Worcester, and a range of artists, historians, and cooks, to find just ‘How the Pershore Plum Won the War’.
