MILITARY LECTURES IN BIRMINGHAM.
A largely-attended meeting of officers of the Warwickshire Cadet Infantry Brigade took place last night, when Professor Spencer Wilkinson, who occupies the chair of Military History at Oxford, delivered a lecture on “The Officer – What He Should Be.” Colonel W. R. Ludlow, C.B., County Commandant of Cadets, presided. This, the first of a series of lectures, was a great success. The next lecture, on Friday, is by Captain Sidney Davis, D.S.O., on “Trench Mortar Work on the Somme.” Captain Davis, a Birmingham man, was awarded his decoration for gallant work at the front in command of a trench mortar battery.
