BIRMINGHAM MUNITIONS TRIBUNAL
CASE LOST THROUGH FIRM’S NEGLECT.
At the Birmingham Munitions Tribunal this afternoon a firm proceeded against a workman for losing time. The firm’s representative said they were a controlled establishment, but the rules issued by the Minister of Munitions had not been posted up in the workshops. The Chairman (Professor Tillyard) pointed out that the regulations provided that rules relating to order, discipline, time-keeping, efficiency, etc., should be posted up in a conspicuous place. A workman, he added, must have the rules in front him so that he may know whether he is breaking them. Turning to the workman Professor Tillyard said, “You get out of it on a technicality if no other ground.” The case was dismissed.
