BIRMINGHAM MUNITIONS TRIBUNAL.
LAD’S CONTEMPT.
At the Birmingham Munitions Tribunal yesterday a youth of 18 summoned for neglect of work failed to appear. The firm’s representative said the lad had stated he would not attend the Court. He was accordingly treating his employers and the Court with contempt. A fine of 30s. was inflicted.
A youth 17 claimed his certificate on the ground that his employer swore at him and kicked him. The employer said he was 71, and merely pushed the lad with his foot because of his cheek. “I’d rather ’list than back,” said the youth, who was told that could have his certificate, his employer was not now anxious to retain his services.
