BIRMINGHAM “SPECIALS”
The number of Birmingham men who have enrolled as special constables now totals over 3,500. Among those who will be serving the city in this way will be two city councillors, numerous clergymen, including one of the archdeacons, four barristers and several solicitors. About fifty of the regular members of the City Police Force who have been released for military service left Birmingham yesterday and proceeded to Aldershot. They will be drafted to France where they will be employed in mounted police work.
