Discover the First World War with HLF
A workshop for individuals and groups who are considering a bid for HLF funding to run a WW1 project

10.00: Keith Lilley (‘Living Legacies 1914-18’) – what the AHRC WW1 Public Engagement Centres can do for your community project
10.15: Stephen Barlow (HLF) – Overview of available HLF funding and application process for FWW: Then and Now programme
10.30: HLF Project Case study – ‘Flintshire war memorials’, Eifion & Vivien Williams
11.00: Coffee break
11.30: Berian Elias (National Library of Wales) – Using digital technology to gather and share information; People’s Collection Wales
12.00: HLF Project Case studies: ‘Gwrol Ryfelwyr Caersalem Newydd’ + ‘Welsh Memorials to the Great War’; ‘Wales Remembers’, Gethin Matthews
12.15: Q&A with speakers + opportunity to discuss ideas

- In the afternoon there will be a showcase event, organised by the five WW1 Engagement Centres, which will allow the opportunity for funded projects to come and share their work and to find out more about the engagement centres. - In the evening, at 7.30pm in Cardiff University’s Continuing & Professional Education Building, 21–23 Senghennydd Road, Dr Nick Mansfield will be giving a public lecture on ‘How the British working class won the First World War: patriotism, protest and commemoration’.
