POTATO PROSECUTIONS. BIRMINGHAM RETAILERS TO BE SUMMONED
We understand that prosecutions have been instituted against Birmingham retailers for selling potatoes at a higher price than that fixed by the Food Controller, namely, 1 1/2d. per lb., and that the cases will heard either to-day or tomorrow. There was no change in the situation yesterday. The potatoes sold wholesale at Smithfield Market were again a negligible quantity, although it should be stated that business is always slack on Wednesdays.
