SERGEANT-MAJOR PROMOTED
Sergeant-Major Joe Defley, South Staffs (Lewis Gun Section), whose home is at 3 Courts, 6 House, Upper Thomas-street, Birmingham, has just recently been recommended for a commission. He goes into training for commission next week. The Sergeant-major had done nine years service in the Army, and has been in France ever since the war commenced. He is 27 years of age, and before the war saw service in Africa.
