SCHOOLMASTER ASSAULTED
BIRMINGHAM MOTHER FINED
In the Second Court of Birmingham Police Court to-day, Rose Wintle, 11, Water Street, Nechells, wife of a mechanic, was fined 5s. for assaulting Elijah Adams, schoolmaster, of Wood End Road, Erdington. Mr Adams is headmaster of Charles Arthur Street Council Schools. On February 27 Mrs. Wintle’s daughter, Dorothy, was detained by her class mistress after morning school. It was alleged that defendant went to the school in a state of excitement, demanding that her daughter should leave, and gave Mr. Adams a violent push with her right hand knocking him against a wall.
Mrs. Wintle, in defence, said that she wanted her daughter to take her sister’s dinner to a munitions factory, and in consequence of the child’s detention the elder girl had to work 10 hours without anything to eat, Mr. Adams pushed her in the first place.
