From World War I to world conflicts today: changing narrations of conflict in a superdiverse East Birmingham community
Voices of War & Peace Community Fund Project
This is a pilot study based in Small Heath and Ward End, Birmingham which is generating data around family and cultural narratives of conflict from different heritage backgrounds. Working with Unity Hubb in Ward End, we will be conducting interviews with individuals and family groups from English, Irish, Romanian, Pakistani, Afro-Caribbean and Somali backgrounds.
PROJECT UPDATE: The project is now up and running and Joanna Skelt, the project investigator, has received training in Narrative methods to help develop interview techniques. We are hoping to share research in progress at the Bringing Conflict Home conference in York this May.
The application for ethical approval has been submitted and we are now recruiting for interviews.
CONTACT: Dr Joanna Skelt is the Research Lead for the Project and can be contacted on j.skelt@bham.ac.uk
