£46 IN NOTES LOST.
A SPECIAL CONSTABLE’S POCKET PICKED IN BIRMINGHAM.
While one of the special constables attached to the “E” Division of the Birmingham Police Force was attending to a woman who had fainted late on Bank Holiday, a pickpocket made a haul from him of £46 in notes. The special was Mr. Philip Cowan, estate agent and auctioneer, 491, Coventry-road, Small Heath. He was going home along Hurst-street shortly before eleven o’clock when his attention was attracted by a small crowd outside the Hippodrome, where the loss occurred. He reported it to the Detective Office, but so far no clue likely to lead to the discovery of the thief or the notes has been found.
