JEWEL ROBBERY.
PREMISES CLEVERLY ENTERED
Diamond rings, diamond and sapphire pendants, brooches, wristlet watches, old jewellery, and other articles of the total value of £600 or £700 were taken by burglars who cleverly planned entry to the shop of Mr. John Aaron, in Colmore-row, Birmingham. They forced the lock by boring holes in the woodwork. Encountering a piece of steel they eventually abandoned the hope of entering through the doorway and got through the moulding the side, which yielded more readily to brace and bit, and other burglarious tools that were left behind. Both shop windows were rifled, but no assault was made upon the strong rooms or the safe, which contained articles of considerable value.
