FORMER ASTON VILLA FOOTBALLER DISTINCTION
Co. Sergt-major J.W. Windmill, of the Royal Warwickshire Regt., mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig’s despatch for distinguished service, is a Brierley Hill teacher and native of the town. He was a member of the Aston Villa football team which won the English Cup, and for some years was secretary of Brierley Hill Cricket Club.
