THE HARVEST OF 1918
The Birmingham Agricultural Executive Committee have asked the farmers within the city to give them information concerning the amount of land they are prepared to break up and brig into arable cultivation for the harvest of 1918.
The necessary labour, horses, and implements will be provided for the farmers. The chief object in view being to increase the acreage under corn, it has been suggested that the most profitable course will be, in many cases, to plant with wheat for next year’s crops the land at present under potatoes, seeds and roots, and to break new ground for potatoes and oats.
