FRENCH DECORATION FOR BIRMINGHAM SOLDIER
The commanding officer of a battery of the R.G.A. has written to the Lord Mayor of Birmingham asking his lordship to make public the fact that the French Government have awarded the Medaille Militaire to the late Gunner C. French, 70877 (supposed to belong to Birmingham), for bravery in the field. “Not only was he a favourite with us all” (writes the C.O.), “but as brave as anyone could wish. He died bravely, and we all mourn his loss.”
