KING’S HEATH SOLDIER’S DISTINCTION
Sergeant A. H. Perry (24), of the Royal Army Medical Corps, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry, of The Shrubbery, Cambridge Road, King’s Heath, has been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry in the performance of his duties. In the face of heavy shell fire he dug out a man who had been buried when an aid post was blown up. Sergeant Perry was wounded in the right hand and face by shrapnel whilst so engaged, but has now happily made a complete recovery from his wounds. Prior to the war he was employed by Bell and Nicolson (Limited), Cannon Street, and volunteered immediately for service. He has been three times recommended for distinction and mentioned in despatches.
