HOARD OF ARMY STORES
Anne Maria Worley, aged 49, 22, Railway terrace, Booth-street, Handsworth, was charged at Birmingham today with being in possession of a considerable quantity of Army stores alleged to have been stolen.
The woman, it was stated, is the wife of a soldier, and according to Detective-inspector Evans there was “a cartload of stuff” at the house. The goods consisted of a portmanteau, boots, and clothing, together with a quantity of food, such as dried peas, tapioca, etc. Some of the articles had been disposed of, and between £30 and £40 worth had been recovered.
Prisoner stated that she did not know the things were stolen. Her husband bought the portmanteau.
She was remanded till Tuesday, bail being refused.
