AWARDED CROIX DE GUERRE
Rifleman Thomas William Yates, 3 house, 25 court, Unett-street, Great Hampton-row, Birmingham has returned to civil life after 18 months’ service at the front with the King’s Royal Rifles. For an act of bravery in which two of his comrades lost their lives and six were wounded, Rifleman Yates was awarded the Croix de Guerre.
Rifleman Yates himself was wounded, and has been discharged from the Army as a result. He served in the Boer War and re-enlisted in the autumn of 1914.
