POTATO DISEASE
The potato crops on the Birmingham War allotments show much promise, and no reports of disease, which is prevalent in some localities, have been received by the Parks Committee. The continuation of spraying of the main crop with Burgundy mixture is advocated. This work has been done systematically on the large allotment areas. Early potatoes are, generally speaking, giving an excellent yield. At a Corporation allotment in the Coventry Road, Small Heath, over 40 potatoes were obtained from a single root, and the weight was 7 1/2lb.
