“ONLY A BUTTON”
THROWING AT A BIRMINGHAM TRAM DRIVER
Richard Mann (17), 11, back 91, Warstone Lane, was fined 7s. 6d. by the magistrates in the Second Court of Birmingham Police, today, for throwing a missile at a Corporation tramcar driver.
Police-Inspector Knight stated that on the morning of Sunday, August 19, he saw the lad deliberately throw at the driver when on his car in Warstone Lane. He spoke to the defendant, who replied, “It was only a button.”
Mr Minshull, for the Corporation, said the button hit the driver on the cheek; had it struck him in the eye it might have been more serious.
