TODAY’S FLAG DAY
TO SWELL THE FUNDS OF THE BIRMINGHAM CHILDREN’S UNION.
Over 800 ladies were engaged today in selling flags and flowers on behalf of the funds of the Birmingham Street Children’s Union. Formed by Canon Carnegie 12 years ago, the union has done the city excellent service by providing clubs for boys and girls. These clubs have a membership of 2,500, but five times that number are awaiting admission. The aims of the promoters were modest, £300 only being required to carry on the work during the winter, and it was evident that at least that amount would be realised.
Today’s flag day is the last of the season.
