HARBORNE PROTEST AGAINST INCREASED RATES.
At meeting of the Harborne Ratepayers’ Association, presided over by Mr. R. J. Richardson, it was unanimously resolved to express to the City Council grave concern at the recent increase of the rates, in spite of the largely augmented revenue derived from the re-assessment, and to draw the Council’s attention to the fact that several large towns have actually reduced their rates during the war. A further resolution was passed asking the Overseers of the Poor why the details of the allocation of the rates have not been stated on the back of the demand note as usual.
