ENTERTAINING WOUNDED SOLDIERS
Arrangements have been made for 2,000 wounded soldiers to be entertained at a special matinee of “Cinderella” at the Theatre Royal, Birmingham, on Christmas Eve. Each of the guests will receive a gift of a sandwich, cake, banana, apple, chocolate, cigarettes, matches, and a souvenir programme. These gifts have been generously provided by the following:-Bananas and apples, the Wholesale Fruiterers, Smithfield Market (per Mr. Charles Bousefield); sandwiches, pies, etc., Plethorpes (Limited), Fletchers Cafe (Limited), Pattisons (Limited), the Grand Hotel, the Midland Hotel, Mr. Arthur Rodway, and Joseph Lyon and Co.; tobacco, Singleton and Cole (Limited); 130lb. of chocolate, Messrs. C. Kunzle. Cups of tea will be handed round to the men during the interval, and for this duty a band of voluntary workers will be supervised by Miss Savage. The men will be conveyed to the Theatre Royal by train, tram, bus, and other vehicles.
