Event: ‘Walter Tull, Hero Remembered’ with Combat Stress
On 14, Mar 2018 | In Events | By Nicola Gauld
A hundred years to the day since Black British hero Walter Tull gave his life leading a charge in the Second Battle of the Somme, actor Nicholas Bailey will host a memorial event in Walter’s honour in association with the charity, Combat Stress. Alongside guest speakers, including Walter Tull historian, Phil Vasili and a Q&A and discussion session, the day will also feature a devised one-man performance entitled “Walter Tull: Centennial Man,” featuring the music of Soweto Kinch and starring Nicholas Bailey.
We plan to raise awareness of the silent veterans in the UK who suffer from Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as Walter did, and also publicise the work of Combat Stress amongst the Black and Asian veteran community.
Beyond the cost of the day, all proceeds will go to Combat Stress to support their vital work in support UK combat veterans.
