THE GLORIOUS DEAD.

IMPRESSIVE SERVICES IN BIRMINGHAM.

The keynote of the celebration in Birmingham yesterday of the fourth anniversary of the declaration of war was the manifest determination to continue the struggle, whatever the sacrifices may be, until the desired goal is reached. At all the various services and gatherings in connection with Remembrance Day there was general recognition of the principle that the memory of those who have fallen may be best honoured by unswerving adherence to the cause which they espoused. Nor was the celebration in any sense sectional. In addition to the gatherings at which the municipal and other bodies joined with representatives of all parts of the community there were special services at the various places of worship in Birmingham, whilst the closing throughout the day of the licensed premises within the city was a further tribute to the sanctity of which the anniversary was regarded and to the unity of purpose which prevails.
