CHILDREN OF BLINDED SOLDIERS.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CHRISTMAS COLLECTION IN BIRMINGHAM

Sir Arthur Pearson’s appeal on behalf of the children of soldiers blinded in the war has already met with a generous response, but the sum contributed still falls far short of the amount aimed at, namely, £250,000. A Christmas appeal is therefore being made, and the work of distributing and collecting the envelopes, which, it is hoped, will be passed round every dinner table in Birmingham on Christmas Day, has been undertaken by the National Federation of Discharged and Demobilised Sailors and Soldiers and the Women’s Volunteer Reserve. The task will require many helpers, and Mr. J. H. Dooley, secretary of the former society, requests the members who are willing to share in it to put in an appearance at the various branch headquarters this evening, when instructions will be given them as to the manner in which they can help during the week-end. In the case of the Handsworth branch, members are requested to meet at the house of the local president, Mr. T. Coupe, The Beeches, Soho Hill, Handsworth.
