DECLINING INFLUENZA
BIG FALL IN DEATH-RATE LAST WEEK.
According to the return of the Registrar-General, the deaths from influenza last week numbered 1,014 in the great towns. The figures for the preceding three weeks were: 1,885, 3,574, and 5,119, and in the first week in November the deaths numbered 7,597.
Birmingham, with 66 deaths, and Manchester, with 55, were the only towns that had more than 50 fatalities.
Deaths from influenza in the London area last week only numbered 186, as compared with 942 in the preceding week.
