The zeppelins have really come at last! Two or three arrived over Great Yarmouth, Cromer, and other places round there on Tuesday night.
They dropped some bombs but did not hit what they aimed at. They did some damage though, one just missed Sandringham where the King had been staying till Tuesday morning. The immediate effect here is that only about every third lamp is lighted and less in places. It is about a fortnight since they painted the tops of the lamps and put dark blinds up in the library. The night before last about 7.30 we suddenly heard a band playing “Rule Brittania” so Pat and I went to investigate. We went all round by the Church and station and then we discovered that there was a recruiting meeting at the school so we guessed that the band was going all round the village and would end up at the school and we waited for it at the top of the Church steps. After a time we heard voices and the band came marching round the corner with a hoard of small boys in front and men marching behind. By this time the tune was changed to Tipperary which the boys were yelling at the top of their voices. This was the first time I heard the famous Tipperary all through. Daddy says he thinks the war will be over by May 1st.
