On 24, Mar 2015 | In Events | By Nicola Gauld

Join us for this fascinating talk by Linda Ambrose, Professor of History, Laurentian University, Ontario on 22nd May at 4-6pm, St Andrews Church Centre, Pershore

Margaret Robertson Watt MBE (1868-1948), known as ‘Madge’, was a Scottish-Canadian philanthropist. She was a person of great energy and drive who believed strongly in the power of women working together for worthwhile goals. In 1915, she left her unhappy personal situation in Canada and came to Britain to help set up a new organisation across rural Britain: the Women’s Institute.

Linda M. Ambrose is Professor of History at Laurentian University, Ontario. She has just completed a biography of Mrs Alfred Watt and has published several articles on rural women’s organisations and related topics.
