Rethinking the Nation
On 05, Nov 2015 | In Events | By Nicola Gauld
The University of Huddersfield and the Arts & Humanities Research Council invites you to ‘Rethink the Nation’ at Imperial War Museum North on Wednesday 25 November, registration at 6pm. We hope you’ll join us in exploring national diversity, conflict, power and change.
Confirmed speakers include author Joanne Harris (whose novels include the best-selling Chocolat), the CEO of VisitEngland James Berresford, writer and co-organiser of Bradford Literature Festival Syima Aslam, and projects director for Opera North Dominic Gray.
In this co-produced event, we’ll hear the voice of the people through video vox pops (made by Kirklees Local TV), listen and move to a sound system set, take ideas from the museum collection all around us and curated digital wallpaper, and experience a Bhangra dance performance.
Discussion, interviews and live performance will be brought together for a unique and stimulating evening, part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council’s 10th anniversary debate series ‘The Way We Live Now’.
The event will finish at 8.30pm with a drinks reception. There is no charge but places are limited. Please book at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/rethinking-the-nation-tickets-18361693319.
