LADIES’ ASSOCIATION FOR THE CARE OF FRIENDLESS GIRLS.

The annual meeting of the Birmingham Ladies’ Association for the Care of Friendless Girls was held at the Mrs. Rogers’ Memorial Home, Monument Road, Mrs. Alfred Milson, president, in the chair. In presenting the report the President stated that on January 1, 1916, there were 24 girls in the Home, and 15 were admitted during the year. Of this total of 39 nine had been sent to service, four returned to their relatives, and one to the Night Shelter. The number in the Home on December 31 last was 25. The work of the laundry had considerably increased. —Mrs. Barrow Cadbury spoke of the work of the Children’ s Courts. The number of girls brought before the court during 1916 was practically the same as in 1915, but the increase among boys was very great. She spoke of the help it was to have a Home in which to place girls who, through neglect and lack of parental control, had been getting out hand. Four such girls were in the Home at the present time. —Mrs. Walter Priestman gave some interesting details of prison visiting.—On the motion of Mrs. George Mathews, seconded by Miss Wilson, the president, officers, and committee were re-elected.
