MILITARY SERVICE
CONDITIONAL EXEMPTION FOR A BEER BOTTLER
Before the Birmingham Military Tribunal, this morning, Mr. Beale presiding, an application was made on behalf of a bottler, 40 years old, married, and passes for sedentary work at home. It was stated that the firm by whom he was employed had 20 workmen before the war, and at the present time only the applicant and a man who would be called up in a few weeks’ time were left. Applicant had charge of the bottling machinery, and he was responsible for the bottling of 2,500 dozen of stout and ale a week. Applicant was assisted in his work by 13 girls. Conditional exemption was granted.
