“ONLY DIRT”
CHARGE OF STEALING BRASS
Before the Stipendiary (Lord Ilkeston), at the Birmingham Police Court, today, Richard Giblin (34), general dealer, 15 court, 3 house, Coleman Street, was charged with stealing 2 1/2 owt. of brass, valued at 25 12s., belonging to Shaw’s and Willenhall, Ltd., brassfounders, Clayton Road, Saltley.
About three o’clock yesterday afternoon, Police-constable Evans noticed prisoner loitering near prosecutor’s works in Devon Street and keeping him under observation for some time saw him place two bags in a handcart. Looking inside the officer saw two other bags, and asking prisoner what the bags contained, he replied “Only dirt.”
Prisoner was sent for trial at the Sessions.
