“SPECIALS'” CONFLICT

ASSAULT CHARGES DISMISSED BY CITY MAGISTRATES

A conflict between two Birmingham special constables in Hurst-street was narrated at the Police Court, when they appeared in the roles of complainant and defendant.

The complainant was Joseph Dancyger, of Bromsgrove-street, a tailor, who summoned Charles Crosbie, a bar manager, for alleged assault on 3 August and for damage to his eyeglasses and clothing. Crosbie brought a counter-summons for assault.

Dancyger said he was standing in Hurst-street about 10.15 p.m. on 3 August, when he received a terrible blow on the side of the head from behind. He turned round and saw Crosbie with a stick.

Mr. Bickley alleged that the whole trouble arose through Dancyger worrying Crosbie’s daughter to go out with him.

Defendant stated that he struck complainant in self-defence.

Both charges were dismissed.
