WIFE AND HER HUSBAND’S MONEY
Nelly Gladys Waring (23), 2, Brighton Avenue, Chesterton Road, Sparkbrook, appeared before the Birmingham Deputy Stipendiary (Mr. Bertram Grimley) at the Birmingham Police court on a charge of stealing £31 from her husband, David Waring.
A remand having been applied for, Mr. Philip Baker, who appeared for the woman, said she has a good defence to the charge. She states, he said, she went home on the 4th, and her husband violently assaulted her. In consequence of his behaviour she made up her mind that she could not live with him any longer, and knowing there was money upstairs, she took it to provide for her immediate necessities. It was stated that the sum of £12 was found in the woman’s box.
She was remanded till Wednesday.
