DEATH OF BIRMINGHAM AIRMAN

Lieutenant Frank B. Best, aged 24, younger son of Mr. and Mrs, Robert Hall Best, 146, Hanstead-road, Handsworth, has met his death while serving with the R.F.C. in France. During the progress of an aerial combat, in which he was engaged on the 29 July, a violent storm arose, and Lieutenant Best failed to return to the British lines. A few weeks later a German newspaper contained a report which stated he had been found dead in the machine. Lieutenant Best was educated at Bedales School, Petersfield, and later spent eighteen months in Dusseldorf and Paris. Upon his return to Birmingham he accepted a directorship of Best and Lloyd, Ltd. He was a teacher with the Nelson-street Adult School. He was also a keen sportsman, and a composer of considerable ability.
