KILLED BY A SHELL
News has been received of the death in action of Pte. A. J. Macpherson, of 12, Marlborough Road, Bearwood. He joined the R. War Regt. soon after the commencement of hostilities, but before proceeding to France was put in a Cyclist Section. After having a spell at the base through shell-shock, he was transferred into the Lancashire Fusiliers, and was killed by a shell on 22 October. His Commanding Officer writes: “He was cool and brave in action, and his death was keenly felt by the platoon, with whom he was a great favourite.”
