GAOL FOR ASSAULTING A SOLDIER
Ernest Ball (41), labourer, 33, Foundry Road, was today sent to gaol for two months by the magistrates in the Second Court of Birmingham Police for assaulting Frank Skinner, a soldier, of 33, Victor Road. Skinner was in a local military hospital. He broke out on Saturday, and changing from his blue into mufti went home, where he found Ball with his wife. The latter, a powerfully built man, struck Skinner a severe blow, blackening his eye. Prisoner pleaded in vain that it was his first offence.
