WOUNDED BIRMINGHAM SOLDIER’S SACRIFICE
Rifleman F. P. Weston, King’s Royal Rifles, formerly a motorman on the Birmingham Tramways (Nechells route), is a patient at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Netley, having been wounded in June last near Ypres. Last week he volunteered to allow the doctors to take 300 c.o. of blood out of his arm for injection into the blood of a man of the Royal Scots, who was dangerously ill and too weak to go through an operation without such help. The operation was successful. Rifleman Weston, who lived at 107, Ash Road, Saltley, enlisted last year, and went to France at the beginning of 1917.
