FORMER BIRMINGHAM MAN GAINS D.C.M.
Company Quartermaster-sergeant R. C. Allday, of the Canadian Forces, who has been awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal, is a Birmingham Man. He is a son of the late Mr. J. L. Allday, of the firm of Allday, Ltd., printers and publishers, Edmund street, and went out to Canada several years ago. When war broke out he enlisted in an infantry battalion, and has seen a great deal of service at the front.
Not only has he been awarded the D.C.M., but he has been recommended for a commission, and is now at a Cadet School in this very country. He is very well known in Handsworth, having married Miss Elliott, daughter of Mrs. Elliott of Devonshire Road, Handsworth.
