WOULD NOT WORK FOR HIS LIVING.

Before the Birmingham Stipendiary (Lord Ilkeston) to-day a one-legged man named Edward David Gordon (20), 29, Upper Portland Street, Aston, was charged with stealing a silver watch belonging to Charles Jones.
The watch was missed from a cupboard at the Mikado Billiard Rooms, Aston Cross, about nine o’clock the morning of the 20th. Prisoner pleaded guilty.
Detective George Davis stated the accused had been in the habit of secreting himself in the basement of the billiard rooms at night, and leaving when they were opened in the morning. He was idle, and would not work for his living.
He was sent to gaol for twenty-one days.
