THE BREAD DELIVERY

THREE TIMES WEEK ONLY FOR BIRMINGHAM

A scheme for the retail delivery of bread, submitted by the Birmingham and District Master Bakers’ Association, has been approved the Local Food Control Committee and the Transport Officer, and they have given instructions that the members of the trade be informed that it must come into operation by 4 February, 1918.

The delivery of bread retail to be on alternate days.

To prevent customers having deliveries daily (from two or more bakers), bread shall only be delivered to those customers who have all their supplies from one baker.

The trade agrees to exchange of customers in order reduce the area of supply, and also the exchange of vehicles in order keep the same fully occupied.

It shall be an offence for any householder to have bread delivered to his house more than three times weekly.

The association has now full power to act, and any case of infringement after 4 February will be at once reported to the executive officer or the association, so that suitable action may be taken against the offenders.
