EMPLOYMENT OF DISABLED SOLDIERS.
Basket-making has been added the list of trades to be taught disabled sailors and soldiers. Under the scheme with the Ministry Labour the Midland Counties Willow and Caneworkers Employers’ Association have undertaken to provide the necessary facilities for work and instruction. Married men (privates) with three children will entitled to a minimum allowance of 45s. per week, including bonus for good attendance; but non-commissioned officers will be paid at higher proportionate rates. The Ministry of Pensions is prepared to pay for the tools up to £2 per man, and also technical school training fees, where this can be arranged.
